Junmai Sake
In the 19th century in Japan, there was a young man who ran about and made efforts to save people in seaside and farm villages from starving from poverty. The man loved his homeland so deeply, and, at the same time, longed for the world over the vast ocean, dreaming that Japan would become a country open to the world. The youth was named Shintaro Nakaoka. He died, before he could see Japan open, with his dreams frustrated, but we wonder with what feelings he looked on the sea which made him grow in his spirits and invited him to dream about the wide world. We offer Shintaro and the sea that he loved, that of his homeland, our junmai-shu of “pure” taste. Let’s drink this sake, that which has just come to you after travelling all the way across the sea. With Shintaro, cheers!
